unified linux installer: download now!

last 2 day's work, you can't imagine how bitchy X11 auth can be sometimes.

- it's graphical!
- comes with firefox plugins and standalone player.
- you can choose your install path, the account it is installed to, and decide whether "shiva" will be added to $PATH or not.

contains 1.8.0.1 webplayer XPI and 1.9.0 standalone package.

developed on the latest zenwalk/slackware, tested on ubuntu 10.10.
please report any bugs.

Testing it on ubuntu 9.10

After clicking on runme.sh I get this:

Installation of stand-alone went ok.

Then tried to run my app and got:

any idea's?

If I manually install the Webplayer and load a game I get the same error:

actually, yes.

it's a shiva thing. your distribution is too old (yeah i had to update like 4 machines when the 1.9 players came out, i feel with you).

the xlib one is rather odd. does it appear right after clicking the shell script, or shortly before installing the web player?
the thing is, the installer is getting started with gksu (elevating it to admin rights), while the webplayer needs to be installed on the user's firefox, not the admin one's. so i need to do a user change and pass on the Xauthority, otherwise it would not work on my slackware system. my hack works with the latest ubuntu and all other current distros i came across. but i am no xorg expert, so i might have made a mistake there.

You so I understand correctly... there is no way to update ubuntu 9.10 for ShiVa GLIBC2.11?? Rather then updating to 10.10??

well. i would not say there was no way at all, but there is nothing in the repositories. so you would have to resort to compiling stuff yourself. plus dependencies. possibly the kernel, too. so in the end, it's the time you put into this vs the 15 minutes system upgrade (you do have a separate /home partition, right?).
